Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 5th March 2020 at the Ruby Hunt Centre Donington.
Present Couns Baldwin, Abbott, Burdall, Hawkins, King, Lovell, Lunn, Robinson MBE, Stanley and L & R Wray. District Councillor Welsh, County Councillor Grocock, 4 members of the public and a press representative.
PUBLIC FORUM
25/20 POLICE REPORT – nothing received.
26/20 TO RECEIVE DECLARATION OF INTEREST IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LOCALISM ACT 2011 none
27/20 DRAFT NOTES OF LAST MEETING – Were signed as a true copy, to become minutes. Proposed Coun Stanley seconded Coun King.
28/20 MATTERS ARISING – nothing to update
29/20 TO DISCUSS SECTION 106 PROPOSALS
Coun Burdall presented drawings of proposals for Flinders Park and quotations. Clerk suggested would it to be wise to wait for grant results, in case there is a shortfall. Coun King advised that money for hanging baskets and replacing the fence in the park neighbouring 21 High Street, recently damaged in the winds, were not eligible.
30/20 TO DISCUSS TOWN STATUS
Clerk had checked changing status but Coun Lovell wanted to know at what point Donington lost its town status. Further investigations to be made.
31/20 MATTHEW FLINDERS – BRING HIM HOME
Update from Jane Pearson, date arranged for reinternment for 17th July. Stone to mirror black one in church is coming from a quarry in Derbyshire. 1m x 2m. There is to be a parade through the village with Church Street being closed. Request if bonfire in churchyard can be cleared. Clerk has requested if bollard can be replaced near MF statue and a blue plaque for MF birth place.

Stephen Wright had repaired the fence in the park. New mower and container to be included on insurance.

H04-0169-20 proposed 9 dwellings at 12 Market Place. Details poor, only showing designs for 1 – 4. Coun Grocock to look into.
36/20 CORRESPONDENCE -
Andy resigning from cemetery maintenance. No reason given. Clerk to speak as his work has been to a high standard.
37/20 MEMBERS REPORTS
AB Market Place drain near Chinese needs attention, also outside fire station and on corner of Mill Lane/Towndam corner.
JS request for tables and chairs in Market Place on VE day. No objections.
JK Pride of South Holland attending Donington on 23rd March. Suggestions please for places to clean.
GL Millsons Close light still not working and one near zebra crossing.
RG advised there is to be a meeting regarding re-opening the railway station.
